ToQger Episode 1 First Thoughts

To begin the show, first off we see some shots of kids getting into near-death experiences.

This year's Sentai 'ToQger', or 烈車戦隊トッキュウジャー Ressha Sentai Tokkyūjā Is making the Showa-Era cool again! After the AMAZING finale of Kyoryuger, It was clear that Sentai is heading in a fun, lighthearted direction, with charismatic characters, and ridiculous gimmicks. This year's Sentai continues that trend.


Initially, It was the Popular opinion to dismiss the outfits, and 'Thomas-the-Train-ish' combing Mech. But once again, The first episode proves that everything looks MUCH better in action. If you're familiar with the Sentai formula, then you'll know just about every Character archetype. This year we get:
RED- "Everything I do is Space"
BLUE- Hipster City
YELLOW- Luka Millfy
GREEN- 2Kool4Skool
PINK- Sweet & Innocent

Our Badguys have a Mechanical Gothic Lolilta look, We don't see too much of them, aside from a brief introduction. Their motivations aren't too clear, so there's not a whole lot to comment on, yet.

This year, our Heroes have to fight Mihawk every week

This show is very silly, and we think it's great. Coming off Kyoryuger, the Super Sentai Series hasn't lost it's track of fun!(get it?) The toy commercial bit is pretty forced in, but I'm pretty sure it wont make you lose your smiles. There were several points of the episode where I literally Laughed out Loud, in a "Oh my Godzilla, I cant believe what's going on here" sort of way.

This Gimmick revolves around each Ranger switching outfits
